It Happened On This Day In Country Music History

1962 Happy Birthday Garth Brooks born on this day in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following his 1989 debut, he sells more than 100 million albums, countless #1 songs and winning multiple Entertainer of the Year awards from the CMA and ACM. He enters the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012.

1995  Shania Twain’s album” is  released by Mercury Records featuring “Any Man of Mine” “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” “You Win My Love” and “No One Needs To Know”it went on to become her biggest-selling recording at the time of its release, selling 4 million copies by the end of the year, and was eventually certified 12× Platinum by December 1, 2000, representing 12 million shipments throughout the United States, and 20 million copies worldwide. It was ranked #8 on CMT’s list of 40 Greatest Albums in Country Music in 2006.

2004 Alan Jackson’s “Remember When” takes over the #1 position in the Country Radio Charts.

2010 Carrie Underwood sings the national anthem at the Super Bowl, a 31-17 New Orleans Saints win over the Indianapolis Colts at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium.
