Country music singer Conner Smith has been charged with a misdemeanor after a 77-year-old woman was struck and killed in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood. Smith is accused of failure to yield the right of way resulting in death. The incident occurred when the woman was crossing a street in a marked crosswalk and was hit by a truck driven by Smith. Authorities found no evidence of impairment or distracted driving. Smith expressed gratitude to the police for their investigation and is committed to supporting pedestrian safety efforts. He is scheduled to appear for booking on August 7.
