UK Man Arrested For Hacking Famous Twitter Accounts For Bitcoin Scam
A UK man has been arrested for hacking more than a hundred high-profile Twitter accounts in a Bitcoin scam.
Joseph O’Connor is accused of taking part in a campaign to hack 130 Twitter accounts last July.
Some of the famous names affected include Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Bill Gates. Companies like Uber and Apple were also targeted.
The hackers used the stolen accounts to tweet out Bitcoin scams to their millions of followers – seeking Bitcoin payments that they promised to “double” if they were sent in the next 30 minutes.
O’Connor is also accused of hacking TikTok and Snapchat accounts and cyberstalking a minor.
