The Sun claims Mamoudou Gassama is being hailed as a hero for rescuing a toddler that was hanging from the balcony of a Paris, France building. Mamoudou was walking by the building when he heard people screaming. The 22 year-old looked up, saw the toddler, and climbed four floors within 30 seconds. Mamoudou handed the child to an adult on the balcony.
He tells the paper that he started climbing as a child in Mali, Africa. “I did it because it was a child. I climbed… Thank God I saved him. I saw all these people shouting, and cars sounding their horns. I climbed up and, thank God, I saved the child. I first felt afraid when I had saved the child. We went into the living room, and I started to shake. I could hardly stand up, I had to sit down.”
The toddler wandered out on the balcony after his father left him home alone to go shopping.
Frech president has offered him citizenship if he would like it.
