BOO!
Halloween is just around the corner, which means it’s time to come up with a costume that will wow your friends. Instead of dressing up as the same boring witch or pirate, try some of these pop culture costumes that only work for 2016.
Barb from Stranger Things
Barb has become a cult icon among those that fell in love with the Neflix series, Stranger Things, over the summer. All you need to complete the outfit is a large pair of glasses, a blouse with frills, a blue puffy jacket, a pair of mom jeans, classic white keds, and a red wig. Throw all this together and you’ll make the perfect best friend with good morals that got forgotten too soon.
Plus, what’s more comfortable than a nice pair of mom jeans?
Eleven from Stranger Things
Another fan favorite from the hit Netflix show, Stranger Things, is the mysterious main character Eleven who also loves waffles. Lucky for you, most of this stuff can be found around the house but just in case here’s a great replica of her pink dress, blue jacket, white shoes, and most importantly, her blonde wig.
Unless you’re feeling really dedicated to the Halloween spirit, we don’t recommend shaving your head for this costume.
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton
Not sure if you guys knew this, but there’s kind of a big election going on and it’s becoming a pretty big deal. Late last month, we got to see the first presidential debate between Senator Hillary Clinton and businessman Donald Trump. Whether you want to show support or show irony, this is definitely a costume that will start a conversation.
For Donald Trump all you need is a suit and a red tie from your closet, but don’t forget his iconic hair and “Make America Great Again” cap. For Hillary, one word: PANTSUIT. Rock that lady boss suit, throw on a blonde wig, a Hillary pin next to an American flag, and you’re ready to go.
If you come across some annoying party goers that feel they can actually discuss the election, just take a deep breath and smile. It’s gonna be a long night.
Beyonce
Beyonce has time and time again surprised the world with her music and powerful image. One of her most popular songs and videos from her album “Lemonade” was “Hold Up” showing Beyonce happily walking through the streets of a city, smashing cars with a wooden baseball bat along the way.
If you want to walk into a Halloween party and make it known that you are a queen, then grab a curly wig, a yellow dress, some black sandals, a wooden bat to remind everyone who’s boss, and a nice glass of lemonade to quench your thirst for blood.
Pro tip: Maybe don’t walk around actually smashing things with your wooden bat. You are NOT actually Beyonce.
Harley Quinn
Yes, there are probably going to be way too many Harley Quinns during Halloween this year. But how can you resist? She’s a strong woman that no one would want to mess with and her costume gets more and more exciting as you put it together. Not only can you complete the Harley Quinn outfit with the famous Daddy’s Little Monster shirt, blue and red shorts, a wig, and a baseball bat but you can always add more to the costume that will make you a professional cosplayer like temporary tattoos, a bomber jacket, the Puddin’ choker, and much more!
A fair warning, you will be approached by green haired smooth talkers. Remember, you’re a strong woman and you don’t need to be disappointed by a few gold teeth and face tattoos.
D*mn, Daniel
The smoothest meme of 2016 made it into the hearts of many this year and his name was Daniel. Possibly the easiest costume to put together all you need is a pair of jeans, a plain t-shirt, a backpack, and most importantly, a fresh pair of white vans.
This costume will only take you five minutes to put together but a flash of those white sneakers will have everyone else swooning all night.
Hiddleswift
One of this summers most popular short lived Hollywood couples was Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston, formerly Hiddleswift. This famous couple made headlines and caused enough drama in the online community that the world almost collapsed on itself. One of their most famous pictures together featured Taylor in a white sweater, warm coat, maroon headband, and a pair of purple pants while Tom flaunted his looks with his gelled hair, black sunglasses, plain white t-shirt, black jeans, and blue jacket while walking around his hometown in Westminster, UK.
This couples costume will bring back memories of the good times they had, the drama they created, and the trail of tears that followed after their inevitable break up.
David Bowie
This year we lost one of the greatest musical legends of all time, David Bowie. He was known for his androgynous looks and powerful rock songs that you couldn’t help but dance along with. One of his most famous looks involved his alter ego Ziggy Stardust which debuted on his hit album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. His bright red hair, blue suit, striped shirt, and eccentric tie changed the world forever.
Be a real man and put on some of that Ziggy Stardust makeup and you might just be the prettiest one at the party.
Prince
Another rock legend that we lost this year was the amazing guitarist and singer, Prince. Most famous for his movie, song, and Purple Rain outfit, the androgynous rock star made both men and women swoon at his guitar.
Rock the black wig, tight pants, fluffy shirt, “Air” guitar, and purple jacket and step on that dance floor because you’re the king of Halloween.
