Millcreek Mayor, Jeff Silvestrini, has announced a state of emergency in response to the increasing risk of flooding in the area. The mayor is urging residents to take action by volunteering their time at a sandbag-filling event scheduled for April 15th. The first 500 volunteers will receive a complimentary coupon for the new Pizza Nono location.
Several areas, including Red Butte Creek, Emigration Creek, City Creek, Big Cottonwood Creek, Little Cottonwood Creek, and Millcreek, are the most vulnerable to flooding. Residents are advised to report any stream blockages or potential blockages to the city and to clear debris from storm drains and ditches near their properties.
